Recently completed the Old-School Essentials Kickstarter and it got me interested in starting a new campaign using the Fantasy Grounds VTT. For the ‘theme’ I’m thinking of recreating either the “Knights of Belsirasin” or “Ghosts of Ezar’s War” campaign I briefly started many, many years ago. As far as the system, it’ll either be a heavily modded D&D 5e or Old-School Essentials one. Before using either I want to gritty it up, reskinning any classes and converting all of the equipment, in particular, the weapons.

So, I’ve decided to run a Savage Worlds game (finally convinced my regular D&D group to give it a shot) though I’ve never even played the system before. Fantasy Grounds is our VTT of choice however, the setting that caught my attention, “All for One: Régime Diabolique”, doesn’t have a Fantasy Grounds module available for the 2nd Edition. Soooo, I decided to create one, for my personal use. Actually 2, a GM and Player module and even though they are far from complete, I’m certainly making progress.
Read MoreSo I have decided to get back into designing some RPG content, in this case for Savage Worlds. Actually, it’s just creating a Fantasy Grounds module for use with their Savage Worlds ruleset of an already existing setting. I recently came across the “All for One: Régime Diabolique” setting from Triple Ace Games and thought it might be nice to GM a few sessions for my current D&D 5E group to mix things up and get them interested in the Savage Worlds RPG system.
To give an idea of the setting, it’s sort of like The Three Musketeers but with a supernatural element. An overview is posted below;
“The year is 1636 and France is a troubled nation. A great and terrible evil gnaws at its core, and darkness stalks the land. All that stands between chaos and order are the King’s Musketeers...
Samples of my ‘Savage Hârn’ weapons, armor and mundane items lists. I’m using HârnMaster 3 as the foundation and trying to stick to the items available in the HârnWorld Module. Still have lots to do, this is only a small portion of my work so far.
Read MoreI have been having this urge to really try out Savage Worlds using Fantasy Grounds but for the setting I keep gravitating back to Hârn. There is an older conversion out there that was started but I am seriously thinking of building out my own Savage Worlds pHârn.
Basically, what I am contemplating is running a Savage Worlds game set on the island of Hârn where that island and setting are basically transplanted to the planet of Krynn. The rest of Krynn has fallen to the Evil forces and now the Dragonlance events are finally encroaching on that remote and small part of the world.
Stay posted.
Read MoreHere are the Strike Location tables for each of the Aiming Zones. If you hit, you choose the table where you’re aiming and click the Roll Icon. The tables do the rest to determine the exact location and output it to the chat window.
Read MoreOk, so I made some crude tables for Strike Locations. What this does is allow the player or GM to choose the appropriate Aiming Zone table and roll 1d100. You only need to click the Die Icon (under Roll on the AIMING ZONE MID Table) once, so one roll as opposed to multiple rolls and looking up of each result, then relaying the player or GM. That starts the sequence to determine the full hit location. The Strike Location is determined and then, if there is a related subtable, such as a hit to the Face or something needing to determine if it was the Left or Right side, the system rolls on the next appropriate subtable. If the result shows a Grey Circle with Red Star, it moves to the appropriate subtable and continues to roll for more details as needed...
Read MoreFantasy Grounds has a revised ‘MoreCore Ruleset’ that has been redesigned enough that it looks like it can be tweaked and used for HarnMaster now. Here is ‘Peri the Lame’ from Friends, Foes & Followers – Part 12 rolling some Stealth skill checks.
As I put some things together for testing I’ll try to post other screenshots and more information.
Well, I have been sitting here thinking up what the theme of my first online RPG campaign should be. I am seriously considering doing something way out of the ordinary such as a monster based PC campaign. The players would roll up Goblin’s as their PC’s (both Goblin and Hobgoblins races would be eligible) and I would limit the character classes to non or limited magic based classes.
